54 Plate S40 Just bought.
Hi all,
I've just traded in my 2001 1.9SE Diesel S40 for a 54 plated 2.0SE Diesel. I'm very happy with my purchase, it's immaculate throughout and comes in a Pearlescent Safari Green colour. My one concern is that there seems to be a slight delay in acceleration especially when changing into 4th, 5th and 6th gears. My initial thought was that it may be a flat spot but i'm worried that it may be the clutch is on it's way out as it seems it is operating at the end of the pedals travel. The car has 74000 on the clock and the timing belt has just been changed so everything is ok at the moment apart from this slight delay in acceleration. Has anyone else had similar problems and is there any test I can do to rule out the clutch. Many thanks. Andrew. |

Firstly , hello and welcome, to test your clutch apply the handbrake, start your engine and engage third gear, raise the clutch until you feel it bite then pick up your revs as though are going to drive off, if you can raise your clutch pedal all the way without stalling the engine then your clutch is shot.
