Question Valuation: 2002 S40 1.8 SE

It makes no sense but my heart is ruling my head and I am considering changing cars (seen an Audi A4 I like).

I would like to get an idea of what my car might be worth in a private sale please . . .

It's a 2002 Volvo S40 1.8 SE in silver with 86k miles
Usual SE spec + black leather interior and rear spoiler + tow bar with single point electrics.
Sport Lux Facelift: Egg Crate Grill, Black/Chrome Indicators and Black/Chrome Ring Headlight Bezels.

Excellent Condition inside and out.
Fantastic service history (7 Volvo, 2 Independent) last service was in January and included: oil & filter, spark plugs, fuel filter, pollen filter, air filter.
9 Months Tax and 12 months MOT - only advisory on the MOT was rear brake pads which I had done yesterday along with the timing belt kit!

Car has proven itself to be reliable and it wants for nothing so the sensible thing would be to keep it and wait a year before changing but I'm not known for my patience lol. Plate wouldn't be included.

Mine has done 83,850 and is a 52 S with SE spec and I got a valuation at £1,560 private - Good.

Try whatcar for a valuation, it seems pretty accurate.

You're in a similar situation to me

Very similar car too...cept my car has done 137k!!!

I want something faster tbh...but not an s40 as I've had 2.

I don't really trust those online valuation computers: just tried What Car and Wisebuyers and the valuations were £350 apart (£1400-£1750).

I would be happy with £1500 but don't know if that is realistic?

Whatcar is accurate. They valued my mothers car in line with what the car was selling for on Autotrader and my car being worth £1,560 private seems plausible.

I'd imagine you'd get £1,500 for yours as it looks in excellent condition.

Price it at £1,495 and give it 2-3 weeks and see if you get much interest.

Don't use Wisebuyers guide they're usually off by quite a bit in my experience.

I was offered £1800 px on a year newer and lower miles than yours 18 months ago (so then £2300 would probably have been its value). I would say £1500 looks about right for yours if its in good shape. Its all down to what someone will pay and what you will be happy with.

Regards

Thanks for the input guys . . . I now have a good idea on the 'extra' I would need to find . . . If I miss out on the A4 I have seen I shall do the sensible thing and ban myself from looking for another 6 months or more . . .

I wish you lived nearer me OP, it looks like a good car and I think £1500 is a great price if it's in good nick.

I'd bite your hand off.
