Timing Belt - Change Frequency for 2.4i Engine
I asked the very same question to my dealer only the other week as my previous volvo died the death of a thousand cambelt failures! The dealer stated that this belt, which I assume is actually a chain inour case (2.4i 6-cylinder, not 5) is at 102,000 miles. I assume it's a chain drive system as a reinforced nylon belt would certainly not last that long!
If in doubt though, contact your local dealer as they are more than willing to offer advice over the phone. Gary |

The 2.4 is a five cylinder engine and it has a cam belt, not a chain. It is well engineered and with the exception of dodgy tensioners on D5s I have never heard of one fail prematurely.
I have seen different change intervals quoted but they are all between just under, and just over 100,000 miles. My 2003 V70 with 2.4T has a 96k mile / 8 year change interval, whichever comes first. My wife's 2008 C30 T5 has a 108k mile / 6 year change interval, whichever comes first HTH. (Yes, I did spot the date of the OP!)
