"My question to you now is has this experiance put you off LPG or just using the installer?"
Dai - No not at all. The LPG conversion is great. it's nice to be able to jump into the beast and not have to keep topping up with a tenner or so here and there. Of all things to have converted, I had a Rover P6 done about 6 years ago and my friend had his Trooper done about the same time - 100K ago. These were both done by the same fitter who couldn't do enough for us. Looking at the amount work he now has, it is easy to see why he feels that he can afford to be a tosser with even his repeat customers nowadays. I will go back to him in the next few weeks, as I want to see his reaction when I explain that I had to get another fitter to rectify the fault. I appreciate that the towing issue was not his doing directly, but the fact that he showed no interest really gets to me. I cant help now thinking that the warranty I have is a load of **** and if something does go wrong, again he will blame the car. Seperately but still on the LPG theme - the only downside on reading these internet threads is that it is very easy to worry about valve seats. I take most reported issues on the internet with a pinch of salt though. Every car I have owned has a forum detailing all of the nightmare issues - but never the good stories. I virtually lay awake at night a few years ago wondering **when** not **if** a conrod would finally pop out of the side of my L200. Probably a handful of owners amongst thousands had experienced this - but the way it was reported on the internet was worrying. In total honesty, had I not had this issue with the conversion - I doubt I would have posted anything at all on here. It's a shame really - as the negative threads put people off but they shouldn't. Another thread asks if people are smug when filling up. No-one has answered really. OF COURSE WE ARE SMUG!! Definately! I love my Volvo - that's why we bought a C70 for Laura. When the XC is due for change, I will with no doubt swap it for an XC90. Without blowing smoke up your nether regions, in future I see no reason why I cant make a break in Anglesey into a repair/service trip at the same time! Maybe one day you might be swapping the kit over when I do change!! Thanks once again for your help, very much appreciated. John. P.S. Some more questions......... I take it that provided I keep the flash lube topped up and dripping, I should be OK? Do you work at the garage in Amlwch? My great grandfather was born in the town (dont know the exact address though). God knows why they moved to bloody Wigan??

Hi, I have been reading with interest your comments regarding plugs. I have recently han an LPG conversion done with a BRC system. While not having any problems, I have just had a service done and paid a fortune for a new set of plugs! From your comments I presume they were platinum (studded with diamonds) Am I likely to get problems from this?
Regards, Bob |

They will be ok for a while but as soon as you start to get any rough running or missing then you will need to change them. Copper core plugs do also need to be changed quite often but at only a couple of quid each not such a problem. Expect between 10 - 20,000 miles from a set of copper cores.
