Hi,

I’d love to say I solved it but I’ve given up.

I had a full diagnostic done at a specialist who also did a smoke test and diagnosed the sensor on the intercooler which I replaced: it didn’t solve it.

I then replaced the sensor on the induction side/manifold: it didn’t solve it.

It could be the MAF but I’m just not inclined to try anything else.

The car has 200,000 miles on it; apart from the fault code it runs fine with no loss of power. I’m just not inclined to throw any more money, parts or time at it.

Unless it starts to affect performance or reliability I will live with it as the car is now very much into the realm of I’ll run it for another year or two and if it dies, it does and if it doesn’t I’ll be looking to replace it anyhow.

On Thursday, I had a similar fault with my 30,000 mile 2017 XC60 D4. Driving back from Tenby in an indicated 30+ degrees C, aircon on max and booted it up a long climbing lane to pass some caravans and a tractor. Almost at the top, the “Engine System Service Required” warning came up with an amber engine warning light. No loss of power and nothing noticeable in performance. Completed the remaining 50 odd miles with no issue and read/cleared the code on my return. P029900 and it hasn’t returned in two days of local urban driving. I had a quick peek at the intercooler and hoses as much as bumper on/undertray on would allow and no signs of splits, dirt, soot or anything untoward.

Not planning on doing anything yet, but will keep an eye on the DTC returning.

Any further updates on this?
