It appears so! These engines are capable of mega miles, with maintenance of course.

I know that your car has really low miles, but do you know if any of the belts have been replaced (Timing belt, auxiliary belt, auxiliary belt tensioner & a/c belt?). As your car is over 10 years old, regardless of the miles, the belts & tensioner should be replaced because they're technically due by age, as opposed to mileage (10 years/108k, whichever comes first).

I wouldn't expect much wear on a car with 9,500 miles, but rubber perishes over time. Snapped belts can cause serious engine damage, so its something to consider taking into account that the car is 12 years old.

If they've been replaced, then that's a bonus!

Hi the timing belt and afaik aux belts have never been changed even though they look like new was a good haggle point when buying the car managed to get £500 off of the price 👍 so that will be getting done soon, currently not using the car as I need to do some small jobs to my c30 t5 and get it up for sale before I get the s80 on the road.
Here are some photos of the underside looks just as good as the rest.

Yes, its best to change the timing belt, idler pulley, aux belts, a/c belt & aux belt tensioner to be on the safe side. Normally, this would be done on the big 10 year/108k service anyway. You haven't done the miles, but the car is over 10 years old & a Volvo dealership would probably advise the same. You got yourself a nice discount, so well done with the haggling!

Yep I always use genuine Volvo parts for everything usually buy from Volvo parts trade on eBay and get my local independent garage to fit. The price for the s80 was £6000 which I thought was a bargain for the mileage and condition 😁

Hi sorry for late reply the plan is to get the s80 on the road about March not in a hurry with the salt covered roads don’t want to ruin the immaculate underside 🤣 genuine Volvo timing belt kit + aux belt and tensioner have now arrived so only need genuine coolant and then will be going to my local independent garage to get done 👍 also have to get some things done to my c30 t5 which will be going up for sale in the next few months will probably list it here aswell to see if anyone is interested 👍

Hi everyone quick update with the s80 all belts and tensioners have been replaced with genuine Volvo parts and car is great only really gets used in the nice days trying to keep it in great condition never know might be worth something someday 🤣 here is some photos of it after using a waterless wash and wax at the weekend expensive stuff but would highly recommend 👍👍

Thanks she does clean up nice 😀👍 I’m thinking about getting a new set of alloys but undecided on which Volvo ones to go for 🤔 quite like some of the newer style ones the v40s come with or might just leave as is I’m not sure yet 😁
