Hi all,

Anybody know a good source for the replacement of the steel fuel line (from tank to pump) on an Amazon? Would mild steel be the only option or is it possible to use Stainless Steel?

Thanks
Brian

If it's the specific Volvo part that you want, then Brookhouse Volvo Parts should be able to help:

Otherwise, try a decent (i.e. independant!!) motorfactors

Copper is not the best material but I have used it with no problems. 8mm copper pipe will do the job.
I always have it on the shelf as it is used for plg conversions.

The steel fuel pipe is also known as bundy pipe and you should be able to get it at any auto-factor. I have not heard of stainless pipe being available and I would be concerned about it being brittle anyway. I doubt you will be able to buy a pre-formed pipe. I recently did the one on my 67 1800s using kunifer which is a copper nickel alloy. Kunifer is supposed to have better corrosion and vibration resistance than either pure copper or steel. You can buy it and any fittings you need here

Thanks all

Andrew I have gone down the copper/nickel road also, seems like much less hassle.

My fuel line is fractured near the tank. Any reason why I shouldn't replace the whole length from tank to pump with a rubber type flexible line?

Because it's often difficult to undo the fitting between the tank and the pipe it often gets cut a few inches from the tank. If you then take out 2-3" of pipe you can replace it with a short length of proper rubber fuel pipe. This makes it easy to take the tank out and puts a shock absorber in the line to keep your fracture, if it was that, away. The front to rear pipe is pretty hardy and is often undersealed over but as said, a length of bundy/kunifer pipe will replace it easily enough. Rubber or plastic pipes will be always be more vulnerable than a metal one properly mounted.

It's fractured where the pipe bends upwards into the area above the axle, so yes, I'll cut out that section and replace it with proper rubber fuel line and leave the rest metal. Thanks.

I have used CUPRO NICKEL (KUNIFER) pipe on my p1800es. Easy to work with suitable for automotive as it does not work harden like copper and will outlast you and the car in terms of corrosion resistance.
Hope this helps.
