Default AWD works awesome

We were at a classic car and air show this weekend and as we were there from friday evening we had a lovely spot . Unfortunately from 22.30 saturday night until 06.30 sunday morning it rained non stop leaving the feild rather wet . Roll onto 17.00 today and having watched various vehicles struggle and quite a few towed off with classic tractors we hooked up the caravan to the xc90 and set off . The route onto tarmac road involved a slight incline so at a steady 15mph and with winter setting on I could feel the front wheels slipping and was waiting for the inevitable no more movement but no we just kept going up the hill until we reached the tarmac .
Now I know some members on here have been off-roading in their xc90's but to experience keeping mobile in slippy mud with a 980kg caravan on the back awesome .

Here's my outfit, since last December we've been out nearly 15 times in the caravan and needed the 4 wheel drive on all but 2 outings

And here's a picture of the field we were on 2 weeks ago, I ended up pulling 3 other club members off as well. As you say they really are awesome with a caravan behind in the muddy stuff ! ! !

Me too, dragged a twin axle Eldiss weighing 1880kg off a severly wet and muddy field over a distance of about 300 metres without even breaking sweat while others around us were sat spinning. Very gratifying.

Great combo. Was just a guess that as I thought they had 2 doors!

Would love an old caravan.Went to a car museum in the Lakes and nearby there was a rally with all the old caravans, including the gypsy ones that were pulled by horses. Spent ages having a look round (not that it was a show, although the people did not mind me having a nose)..!!

How long have you had it?

Regards
