Default Car Battery replacement and CEM reset

Hi Guys,

Do the battery needs to be fully charge before reseting the CEM to 0 count ?

I have replaced the battery and only reset the battery sensor (left the car for the night) and it still shows low battery voltage. Measures the voltage to 12.33 after cold night and 30 minute drive.

I have realised that I need to reset CEM as well.

Cheers
Raf

I can’t answer your question but if you have VIDA usually there is a good description in there as to how these systems work. But the low battery warning count is nothing to do with the threshold at which the warning is given (it’s just a count) and contrary to folk lore there is little to nothing on these cars which is reset by leaving it unpowered overnight.

I'm surprised the voltage is that low on a new battery. I've been monitoring mine because of the persistence of 'low battery charge' warning messages and was disappointed that the terminal voltage was just below 12.3V first thing in the morning and decided that I might need to replace the 5 year-old battery. However I'm struggling to find a credible source of voltage information that relates to an EFB battery at 1degree centigrade at the ~80% charge level that I 'believe' the Volvo charging system is designed to aim for.

I'd assume that the battery monitoring system would eventually learn the new battery state of charge/health without a VIDA reset being required and a Volvo dealer only does this so that the system immediately gives the correct information to the driver, as otherwise the continuing warnings would annoy a customer who'd just paid for a new battery to be fitted.

Are you still getting 'low charge' warning messages?
