windscreen washer on xc60
i have a 2009 xc60 and the water from the washer jets is just trickling out. I have checked the fuse and that didn't make any difference. If the pump has gone would any water come out at all?
thanks for the attention |

Probably just a bit bunged up with gunk from the bottom of the reservoir.
Give it a good clean and see if this improves things. There was a recent thread on the XC90 pages and from memory the cure was a new pump, and you may be able to save some money by using a Ford one which is exactly the same. From memory the Volvo one was quoted as being £57.

Some time ago I did have a problem like this and it turned out to be the little valves at the bottom of each jet.
Iirc each of the valves is one way to stop the screenwash running back to the pump and also to prevent the concentrated screen wash from evaporating and the water that remains freezing. I assumed that the one way valves were sticking partly shut and only allowing reduced flow. I disconnected the valves and had a good flow from the pump so replaced both of the valves and all was well.
