Default Should i choose diesel power over petrol.

I am requiring some good sound advice, am thinking of purchasing a diesel
powered V60 2014 registered model. I travel less than 5000 miles per annum, would I have problems with this diesel engine, clogging up etc doing so little annual miles, or should I just stick with volvo petrol power.

Thanks Lawnmower man.

Petrol, unless your 5,000 miles consists mainly of long journeys, which is what diesels benefit from.

Exactly what Sotosound has said. You do not want to buy a diesel to go to the corner shop or do a school run in. I don't do many journeys in the D5, but those I do are nearly always 130 miles a time. Our main car is electric and I would not consider it for long journeys. We believe we have the best possible combination of cars in our home.

I had a V60 D4 will all the associated engine problems.

I have now sold it and gone back to an much older Saab 9-5 Aero, which with 260 bhp is wonderful albeit a little bit more expensive to run.

I only do 5-6k per annum so a diesel is the wrong car for me.

I don't do a huge annual mileage but I much prefer a diesel. My annual journey to France is the biggest mileage. My previous car was a Honda CR-V 2.2 I-DTEC, also diesel. Touch wood, I have never had a DPF problem with either car. I stick rigidly to using Shell V-Power, or similar top end diesel if no Shell stations available.
