Other XC90 Problem: - DVD player

I have just bought a 2nd hand xc90 exec model which has a DVD player. Sounding really dumb here but I am a little unsure about where to put the DVD either on the front dashboard in the cd slot or what appears to be a slot at the back of armrest. The remote control doesn't seem to work or the whole player is perhaps not working. Will it work without the remote control?

Any help would be appreciated.

the DVD Player is in the arm rest if it is a volvo system , it it may be some other system which has been fitted after it was sold as new .. The DVD Player under teh left front seat is for the Navigation system if you have one

Thanks for the reply. Put the DVD in the armrest slot but no joy. Looks like the DVD player isn't working even though I presed all the buttons on the armrest. I assume there is nothing obvious I am missing. Any idea on costs to get it fixed?

the buttons should light up , does the on/off button do anything? try disconnecting the car battery for 10 mins it will reset the unit . otherwise try and find Marcel on here who could fix it through his volvo car audio business .

Might disconnect but a little concerned about the radio not starting again as I have no code orbanything.
