Replacement key fob shell
I want to replace the worn looking leather key fob shell and found one on the Volvo accessories site.
I’m confused though as it says “The accessory fob shell only fits key cases produced 2016 w49:1- The production date is located in the bottom of the key case. You can find the number by detaching the fob shell from the case and lifting the mechanical key.” My key looks like it was produced in 2018 potentially but unsure if this means I can’t get the new shell as I can remove the current one? Anyone else replaced theirs on this car?

Forget the over priced Volvo case and get one from ebay, there are lots on there.

Much nicer to have the proper Volvo Leather case.
I think the dates mentioned by the poster are the start dates for the SPA platform and it means cars produced after this date. But I am aware that Volvo introduced the security feature that makes the key 'sleep' when it is laid down. I suspect this made no difference to the Case. Then the later cars with google etc updates are unknown to me but I can't think why they would change the key?

How about if the motion key thing offer is still on, you'll get 2 leather ones and a sport key for about £120 iirc, if you look at the price Volvo wants for just the shells x2 and 2 x batteries you aren't far off a whole new set of keys, just an option.
