Default What is this, and could it be causing that?.

2004 V70 AWD R
Been chasing one or two small oil leeks and noticed a leek from the throttle body where it attaches to the underside of the inlet manifold. (See pic) The over-engine charge pipe is 100% oil free; the oil catch can is not over full ( ran a 1/4"dia tube for 21" down inside the cylinder head breather pipe and could suck no oil - not perfect but confident the can is not the source of the oil.
Can't see how oil can get to the throttle body, but then noticed this damaged part. (see pic). It lives under the air filter housing which normally is not removed for servicing.Does anyone know what it is/what it does and could it be responsible for an oil leek.
The damage appears to be long standing, but the car has never thrown any lights or fault codes.

Comments and suggestions appreciated.

Cheers
Bob

The broken part has something to do with the vacuum supply to the power brakes. I asked around when I thought mine was heat distorted. I doubt it can have anything to do with oil leakage.

Some seepage over time might not be a big deal.
Is it oil?
Can fumes at shutdown carry oiliness into the intake manifold which eventually can creep into sight?

Default Can't believe what I'm seeing

Thank you very much for your reply. It set me off on a new track. I assumed the part was inlet manifold related as it is connected to the manifold. Looking again in VIDA I found this diagram - see pic. AND a part number.
Further research shows new parts which look exactly like my bit - Looked split/damaged.
"Heat distorted" being another good description of their appearance. My bit or the new bits as viewed on the web, certainly do not look like an "undamaged part" and accounts for my thinking mine had cracked open.
So one mystery partially solved, but the "how the oil is getting to the throttle body" remains.
I'll probably give the clamp an extra ¼ turn and accept the small oil lose through the engine.

Cheers
Bob.

it'll be the pcv clogged, it's getting in the air intake theres a supply hose from the rear of the block (right hand rear near turbo) that goes to a heated rubber part on the air intake tube. the oil is then fed into to intercooler - throttle body
