Default Volvo windscreen right seal

Morning Guys
Am looking at replacing this part
https://www.volvopartswebstore.com/p...3/8662737.html
Part Number: 8662737
is there a new improved part for my 2005 xc90 as tis one seems to have shrunk and exposes a little hole at bottom of windscreen?
cheers

Smile its a water diverter I think, not a seal

Hi,
I have just had a look at mine, and have previously spent quite some time tracing a small leak in this area so am quite familiar with the drainage.

The part you are looking at diverts heavy water run off onto the plastic scuttle so it drains through the plastic mesh and down through the big scuttle drains.
It does not seal against the windscreen and there are small gaps, water that goes through these gaps drains along the inner wing under the bonnet hinge and away through a variety of paths.

The diverter seems to be to stop these smaller drains become overloaded and also is cosmetic.

Unless you do not like the look of the gaps I would leave it, but there is no guarantee a new part will not have some gaps as it simply buts up to the windscreen, it does not seal against it.

Mine has gaps and function perfectly.

(It may be worth checking the scuttle drains are clear as these are known to block up over time. If not sure how just ask, someone will help).

Hope this helps.
