Default New here, with new XC90 ordered - questions...

Hi,

Just joined and this is my first post. I've had a 2000 second-hand XC90 for the past 3-4 years and grew to love it, although it did have its little quirks. However, on Sunday just past and after a test drive which blew me away, I've traded my current XC90 in for a brand new XC90. (XC90 D5 Inscription, magic blue/amber/walnut - I'll list the full spec below for interest).

A couple of questions: I've chosen the apple CarPlay option, but see that launching it will disconnect the car from online services via my iphone over Bluetooth. In such circumstances, is it worthwhile maintaining an online connection (for real-time traffic etc) either via wifi tethering to phone or an in-car sim? If so, what's the best approach - is it worth investing in a data-only sim for the car? And then, how much data would the car typically consume in a month (if that's not a "how long is a piece of string question).

Secondly, Pilot Assist is widely discussed in the manual as an option/accessory, but I can't see it listed in any of the standard or add-on options on the web or in my order sheet. Is this what they now call "Lane Keeping Aid"?

Finally, the dealer has quoted a provisional 31 March delivery date, but I believe this estimate will be improved (hopefully to an earlier date) once I have a factory order number. How long does this typically take to come through?

I'm sure I'll have many more questions and if anyone has any advice for a xc90 2nd-ed newbie, then that would be great. I'll continue to peruse the forum for anything but try not to focus too much on the unlucky few (I hope) who have problems so avoid dampening my enthusiasm...

Anyway, the car I've ordered is:
2017 XC90 D5 Powerpulse AWD Inscription
Magic Blue, Amber Nappa Soft Leather, Linear Walnut Trim, 20" 5 Double Spoke Alloy Wheels (Diamond Cut/Matt TechBlack)
Winter + HUD pack; Family Pack; Power Front Cushion Extensions
Four corner Elec Air Suspension; 360' Parking Camera; BLIS; Tinted windows
Smartphone CarPlay integration; subwoofer; semi electric retract. towbar

Alex.

As far as I know pilot assist is standard and I believe is the lane keeping aid and semi autonomous driving. The other system is the parking pilot which parks the car but also gives you front sensors. I went with the zenium pack which gives the park assist, cameras, sunroof, etc. I found this gives me more bang for my buck. Are you in the Caravan Club because if you are you get free mettallic paint (mines magic blue) plus other discounts on top of the dealer discount (it did with my dealer anyway ). I also got the winter + pack which gives the heated washer nozzles and seats nd steering wheel ( lovely at this ti e of the year) . My 90 is due in March too so hopefully avoid the extra tax. Good luck with yours.

Thanks for the reply. Not a CC member; the towbar is to allow me to fit a bike carrier (yet to be bought). The discounts would be attractive, but from reading a few things on here I think the same discounts are available to member of the VOC too, which I may join for that reason. A discount on the P* tune-up sounds like an attractive consideration :-) .. Here's hoping we're both happy new owners before the end of March!

Hi, newbie here too. Nice spec, I'm hoping to get mine before the end of March too. I've been given the factory order form and it's allocated for the 28th for delivery. Fingers crossed for all of us :-)

Default Affinity Discounts

A number of clubs including the Volvo Owners Club and Caravan Club offer discounts (all the same) under the Volvo Affinity Scheme.

Unfortunately with most, if not all, you have to be a member for 6 months before you can get the Affinity discounts, so if you are ordering now and are not a club member you probably won't be eligible.

Some of the discounts such as P* and accessories are, I believe, available after you have the car.

Could Pilot Assit be defined as the combination of Adapted Cruise Control with Lane Keeping Aid?

That's what it looks like, given lack of explicit mention of Pilot Assist on the spec sheet or Volvo's car builder web app.

Yep all I can see on my order is:
Adaptive Cruise Control with Distance Alert & Queue Assist
Lane Keeping Aid
Presume these combined make up Pilot assist

As an aside I've just noticed mine doesn't say Theatre lighting either?!

'Thorien'If you have ordered the wood finished trim you have to have the Interior illumination pack with it which costs £250. This on the 'Momentum' but I think it is standard on the 'Inscription'

Thanks, Just spoken to the dealer and he confirmed standard on the inscription. He also confirmed that although not listed, pilot assist is standard and so will be included. It is also listed in the price list as a standard feature of all XC90's.
