Default S60 2006 HU850 finailly died need advise.

Hello Volvo lovers,

So unfortunately my radio died on my Volvo this morning. It started with no sound all i can hear is popping and clicking sound and every now again it will go full volume and i cant turn down the radio only thing i can do is switch to a different channel after a bit of research it turns out it is a common problem with the HU850 units rather then trying to search for a replacement and it happening again, think im going try open and reheat the motherboard and see how it goes if anyone know which area i need to reheat please let me know or point me to the right post. worst case i am going to buy an aftermarket android unit. But the mean time i want to know can i drive the car with the radio unplugged ?

thank you

yes you can drive with the radio unplugged, however you must keep the climate control panel in otherwise you cant lock the car (with the plipper)

ahh perfect thanks they are close at the moment will phone them next week. just wondering do you know how much does it cost normally for a repair?

i found an aftermarket radio and all the looms for around £350 could go cheaper but it is something i wanted so if the repair cost is close to that then i rather try repair myself or go down the aftermarket route.

Might help to get it out:

Remember disconnect battery if you are going to remove the climate control plug
