Default Difference between 185 and 163 D5 V70

Sorry if this sounds stupid but how can i tell what bhp my Volvo V70 D5 is?? It is a 2005 55 plate and is a six speed manual. I bought the car as a 185 bhp but when i insured it on the insurance database it was listed as a 163. Is there any tell tale signs that will tell me either way???? Kind Regards in advance.....

163BHP versions have black engine cover, 185BHP is silver. It is much more differences, but this is the first one you can notice...

Oh, just found that:

Sixth and Seventh VIN letters

79=163bhp
71=185bhp

It has got a silver cover on the engine and looking at the log book the CO2 output is 179 G/KM.....Would this make it a 185 ???..Is there anything on the log book that would lead me to confirm its a 185???...Thanks again

mine is 163 bhp and defo I need some more power, as I remap every diesel car I own... It can lower you fuel consumption if you driving normally, but I always had bigger consumption as I can't handle myself when feel the power-it's so much fun... ;-)

Decision like that is up to you, but if you go for hat use same well know and good company to remap the car for you, the best if they do live remap on rolling road with printouts and stuff. In lots of places you get just generic remaps loaded into you ECU...

The power output is specified on the V5 but in kW not HP:

163bhp is ~120kW
185bhp is ~138kW

Default V70 d5 bhp

Hello All
I know this is and old chestnut but I have a 56 plate v70 d5 Se Euro IV registered Jan 07
The car has the light grey engine cover and the later injection management on the passenger side (left)
The Log book suggests that it is 185 bhp (71 code) HPI have it recorded as 185 and so does my insurance company The car also drives well on the move
However the code sticker on the cam belt cover reads D5244T suggesting 163 Bhp or do D5,s all read this
Should it read D5244(T4) also emissions are listed as 179 on paperwork
(6 speed Manual)

I enjoy the car but of course I would like it to be the 185 because I would feel so much more important !
