I've never seen a P1 S70, V70 or C70 with steering wheel-mounted audio controls, and I believe that the stock stereo is just an old-style metal box with limited connectivity beyond speakers, aerial and battery power. I don't believe that the controls are motorised, either. They're just knobs, buttons and sliders.

A question is, therefore, whether or not the stock stereo will even respond to steering wheel-mounted audio controls. I'd be surprised but, then again, I'm only guessing based upon what I've seen. (Now someone is going to come along and surprise me. )

You can connect a Bluetooth device to it, but even that's a mission if you have the premium audio installed, as per the C70 that my wife just swapped in for a nice V60 D3 R Design Lux Auto.

Sadly, there never was a P2 version of the C70. Was one ever proposed?

Thank you Sotosound.

Funnily enough I have a Grom blue tooth device connected via the 6cd channel to the head unit which my iphone happily connects to but it only acts an audio channel. The grom unit has the microphone as an add on my A pillar.

Looks like I will have to stick with the stock steering wheel and just have it recovered to improve its condition and change its colour to a dark grey to match the wheel back and airbag cover.

You dont happen to know of anyone doing this do you?

Sorry. No, but you might be able to source a used steering wheel from somewhere. I'm guessing that it's the same wheel as was also available in P1 S70s and V70s.

If you can locate a Volvo specialist, they might be able to tell you more and even swap the wheels for you.

Perhaps try these people.

If you look on the 850/S70/V70/C70 forum there is a convertible being broken in Essex. Looks like the steering wheel is what you want if still available. Failing that search on that forum for a member called 'Minty' he is always breaking C70's.
