Steering locked up

Hi
Volvo xc 70 2010 keyless

I had an issue two weeks ago when on my way to Heathrow I parked up for 1.5 hours
When trying to continue my journey I found that the steering would not respond it would not move at all

Fortunately an AA man was close by and assisted me by starting the car and rocking the steering wheel vigorously and it rectified itself

He said he has to do this 14 times a day and its quite a common factor

Whether its a Volvo thing or not I do not know
Can anyone shed any light on this or recommend what has to be done so this situation does not happen again
Fluid levels are ok no leaks either

I forgot to mention that I also had a message , senior moment

Steering maintenance come up

But that disappeared when starting
Could it be an electrical issue

The electric rack didnt come until 2016 I believe so you must have a hydraulic problem in the rack I would get it looked at and the pressures checked, It most likely needs a new rack.. not something you want to happen whilst driving ! Never heard of that problem before obviously...

I have been to a local indy and he suggests it could be something simple as changing the steering oil
Will get this sorted and let you know

Just in case it has been lost in translation...was the steering lock on and wouldn't come off and you were unable to start car?...or did the steering lock release and car start but there was no powered steering?

Thank you for the reply
I have been to an Indy garage and the chap is an ex Volvo mechanic
He said it was the key not talking to the receiver which locked the steering
I think when the AA chap jumped in it somehow connected and all worked after that
I have since had the steering oil changed
swapped keys for my 2nd one and all is working well
