Odometer Blank
For some reason my V70 (2001) has stopped displaying the odometer/miles travelled information. The battery is fairly new and I've no (obvious) electrical problems. Has anyone any ideas as to what could have caused this - and what is the best way to fix it.

Early signs of DIM failure? Any other strange goings on? Scrambled letters, no click when indicating etc?

Nothing obvious although I recently had to change a rear bulb - the problem has only shown-up since then. I've read elsewhere on the forum about disconnecting the battery to perform some sort of reset (I'm no expert as you see) - is this worth trying?

Do disconnect the batter, preferably overnight & that often sorts all sorts of weird & wonderful problems.

I was told to disconnect the battery regarding a different problem but assumed it meant just the live terminal. It didnt resolve my problem so I was just wondering if this is where I went wrong.

Usually removing negative lead overnight or min 6hrs resets car to factory settings, when reconnected you will note car running abit rough this is normal as car is relearning your driving style etc,In many cases the reset also cures electricsl issues also.

I'm guessing this will reset a load of other settings as well - radio code etc.....?

Never disconnect just the live.
The sequence is always disconnect the earth lead first and reconnect it last.
