Question 2002 S40 TD rear brake discs

What is the minimum thickness for rear brake discs?

What is the best way to measure them as the backplates appear to get in the way.

Do the backplates have to be removed to replace the discs?

8.4mm min, manual states if new pads are to be fitted & the disc is below 8.9mm new disc should be fitted.

Micrometer & there should easily be enough room to take a measurement!
