Default Looking for a new xc60

Hi all,

A recent back injury has prompted me to look for a higher car, and since i have outstanding finance on my v70 i figured it simpler to just look at an xc90/60.

I'm looking at 2011-2014 plates, and am wondering what i should be looking for? I understand coming from Volvo direct i needn't look for much, but i want to find out the following:

- What are the major service periods

- Are there any model years to look for or to avoid

- Any decent facelifts around the periods i'm looking at

- What optional extras should I ensure I have?

- Were there any 215bhp versions of this car?

- Anything else I should know?

In April 2013 they launched MY14. This was the 'facelift' easily identified by the DRLs mounted low in the front bumper.
In September 2014 they launched MY14.5, with the new VEA 2-litre 4-cylinder engine. Only available in FWD. Other 5-pot engines continued.
Power outputs have increased gradually over the years.

Just 2 weeks ago I went from a 58 plate 2.4d V70 to a 62plate D4 XC60, so I was in a very similar situation to you.
I was advised to go for a D4 as it is a newer engine than the D3. Also I wanted a powered tailgate so went looking at SE Lux spec as a minimum.
The XC so far has been great, not quite as smooth a ride on the motorway as the V70, but better visibility, more economical and very pleased so far.

Just ensure you test drive the models you are interested in to ensure you are happy with them but go for the best spec you can afford. SE and R-Design specs are similar but they do drive differently with R- Design having a stiffer ride. But I am sure which ever you go for you will really enjoy it

Just be careful with the specifications. Strange things get missed off, for example, the R-Design does not have a powered tailgate (unless you go Lux), whereas the 'basic' SE does have this. If you have a back injury, the powered tailgate could be a must.

For me the must haves are the winter pack (inc xenons), power tailgate and HK audio. I would definately go for the facelift as the car looks much more modern.

Personally i prefer the R design, as it looks to have a little more road presence (a personal preference). But you get a better choice of colours with the SE-Lux.

Default power tailgate

Hi, I have a power tailgate on my R Design but it's not a Lux?

It can be added as an option on the std R Design.

It could have been standard in 2011. Volvo did some strange (stupid) standard / option changes over the years.

Default 2014 xc60 with adaptive cruise control?

Looking fwd to own a 2014 Reg xc60. spotted one with a trader (14 Regn. D4 SE 5Dr. Manual 30£ tax) but they are not sure about its finer feature details. I am interested in going for it only if it has Adaptive cruise control.

How do I know if it does have this ACC feature? The traders description doesnt mention though.
