Default [Sold] 2007 XC90 D5 SE Sport

Price: £3,495

Our much loved XC90 D5 SE Sport now FOR SALE - making way for a new (2017) mk2 XC90.

I purchased the car in 2017, and am the 3rd keeper. The previous owner had the car virtually from new – as the first owner was Volvo (demonstrator car) for only a few months.

Mileage: 204,500 (may increase slightly)

Next MOT due: July 2020

Exceptionally well looked after vehicle – refer to the extensive Service & Maintenance History notes, below.

Starts first time and drives really well. Engine has tonnes of pull, brakes are strong and the transmission is exceptionally smooth.

2nr. Keys included.

Key Features
• Heated front seats
• Dual zone climate control
• Electric Memory drivers seat
• Electric heated and folding wing mirrors
• Sat-Nav (DVD based). Remote control not included (never had it)
• Rear air-conditioning for the 3rd row – really useful optional extra.
• Retro-fitted detachable towbar – more detail below.

Westfalia detachable towbar, bought new and fitted in 2018. All locking keys included. This was fitted with a brand new Genuine Volvo interface unit to ensure the electronics keep working as they should. Note – this towbar has only been used a handful of times, either with a small gardening trailer or for holding a cycle-rack.

Brand new Nokian Weatherproof SUV (all season) tyres fitted in November 2019. 7.5 - 8.0mm tread remaining. Check out the reviews for these tyres – plus, they look great!

Sony Bluetooth unit has been fitted and hard-wired (concealed) – connecting to the 3.5mm Aux input. Works really well – allowing you to use your phone for calls & music, via the car's speakers.

Everything works as it should, with the exception of:
• The stereo has the odd “glitch” every now and then – and switches itself off for a couple of seconds, and then comes back on.
• The built-in phone doesn’t work. I think it’s the backup battery which has failed. Cost to fix, not worth it in my opinion.

Default Condition

Condition

I would describe this car as v.good – maybe even excellent condition when you consider its age & mileage. It drives extremely well – it certainly doesn’t feel anything like as old as it’s numbers might suggest. Testament to this, are the compliments which we always get whenever someone new rides or drives in it. Everyone loves it, and can’t believe it’s mileage.

The air conditioning blows ice cold. The heated seats are toasty warm.

The steering rack has slight wear. If you look back through the MOT history, you’ll see that it’s been noted on a number of previous MOT’s – right back to 2014 (122,000 miles). I can honestly say that it’s not got any worse since I’ve owned the car – for the last 30,000 miles. However, if you’re thinking of keeping the car for a few years – then it’s possible that you may have to replace this. Out on the road, it steers and drives great – it’s only at parking speeds that you notice some very slight play. Others who drive the car occasionally, don’t notice anything.

Given the car’s age and mileage, it has a number of minor cosmetic imperfections. I’ve listed the more notable items below:

• Slight, localised rusting of the lower bonnet grille-frame. Could easily be treated and touched up.

• Top corners of both rear door shuts (where the rubber seal strikes the body) – the bodywork paint has worn thin and is showing some fine surface rust. Again – easily dealt with.

• Scuff and small dink in the rear wing and boot lid – near the offside rear light cluster (from where I reversed into a skip…doh!)

• Some v.small cuts in the sides of the leather seat cushions (drivers and nearside rear passenger) – only really noticeable when you’re up-close cleaning the car.

• Ash-tray for the middle row (removable centre console) is missing.

• The cream leather seats had a DIY refurb in 2017. Gliptone colour matched leather dye (excellent stuff). It has definitely improved the look of the old, creased leather – however you can see it’s been done if you look really closely. It would benefit from a top-up on the commonly worn areas (drivers side bolster etc). I think I have a small amount left in a bottle somewhere.

• The alloy wheels are in “good” condition – some scrapes and scuffs, and paint blistering / peeling in a few areas.

• The nearside, rear passenger lower door panel – has suffered a bump and is slightly creased (previous owner). Poor bodywork repair – means that in direct sunlight you can still see the lumps in the panel. You don’t notice it when the car’s dirty!

• Near side wing mirror has taken a hit – some loose casing. Been like this since before I bought the car. Works fine (heating and retracting mechanisms function correctly).

• Off side indicator lens in wing mirror is broken – new one £20 on ebay.

• There is a strange, permanent mark to one of the plastic bits of trim in the boot – from where an air freshener’s chemicals have reacted with the plastic.

• The rear leather face of both 3rd row headrests have v.small wear-holes in them. Looks like they catch on something when they’re folded away.

• The rear light clusters have some moisture inside them – obviously a failed seal somewhere around each light. I may get time to try and fix this.

Default Summary

Summary

We bought this as a second car, for occasional use when we need a 7 seater.

However, we all love it so much - that it gets used as the main family car for almost all of our weekend outings, as well as for the family holidays.

So much so, that we're selling both cars - so that we can buy a new(ish) mk2 XC90.

If anyone is interested - the other car we're selling is a 2014 BMW 535d Touring. It's on Autotrader - I can send anyone the link / details on request.

We hope that AG07 MYP will find a new owner who will love it just as much – it’s got plenty of adventures left in it!

Boot load cover is not included (it didn’t come with one when I bought the car).

Dash-Cam (pictured) is not included in the sale.

Not included in the price – but available for sale:

These will be offered to whoever buys the car. If they're not sold with the vehicle, I will put them up as a separate advert on this forum

• Genuine Volvo Roof Bars – security keys (x2) included.

• Genuine Volvo Rubber Mats – bought new in 2017, excellent condition.

• VIDA DiCE unit (purchased new from Si Robb in 2018), plus a cranky laptop with Vida software installed – it works, but there’s a few tricks you need to use (laptop with quirks, DiCE unit is perfect).

Thanks for reading - and apologies for the information overload!

Default UPDATE - 24th May

I don't seem to be able to edit my original posts, so here's a quick update:

I've managed to fix/improve some of the minor issues which are mentioned on the original post. See info and pictures below...
  • Minor rusting - from rear door seals rubbing: Treated and repainted.
  • Drivers side wing mirror indicator - broken lens: New item bought and fitted.
  • Rear light clusters - condensation: Clusters were removed, leak-checked (none found), dried (left in the sun with silica gel packs inside), and then all joints and cable penetrations silicone sealed. Time will tell if it's worked.
  • Minor rusting - around bonnet grill: Bodywork rubbed down, treated, filled and re-painted. Got rid of some bad gouges in the front bumper in the process. Probably more than the novice DIY'er should attempt with a couple of spray cans. You can see some of the blend-lines if you look closely, but overall - definitely an improvement.

Car is now advertised on Autotrader.

Car is now sold.

I’ll be putting the other bits (roof bars, rubber mats, ViDA) on a new For Sale thread in the next few days.

Someone has got a bargain - I have never seen such a detailed description! Very useful information to help understand what to look for as the miles pile on, especially pleased to read that your autobox is still sweet after 200,000+ miles!

Enjoy your new Volvo when you get it.

Thanks XJSDriver.

Volvo sold much quicker than I thought it would. Can’t be much of a market for old, thirsty high mileage 4x4s in the highest tax bracket. To my amazement it was sold within a week!

My BMW on the other hand - advertised for 12 weeks and still not sold.

New XC90 delivered on Thursday...very very pleased!

DOMF1 - thanks for your message about the VIDA/DiCE. I can’t reply - as I haven’t posted more than 30 times.

If you’re still interested, PM me again with your email address and we’ll communicate that way instead.
