I’ve replaced Turbo at 200k and alternator at 290k as well as usual stuff for high mileage cars such as wheel bearings, brake Calipers and suspension top mounts but only one broken coil spring in all those miles which is amazing.

My previous 2001 s40 1.9d did 250,000 miles before it was killed by lazy servicing leading to broken timing belt so I learned a lesson there for my 2nd Volvo. I hope to get this one up to 310k by it’s next Mot in May but the new MOT regs may kill it off after that.
You're going to overtake me soon!

Just got back on the Volvo horse with a 1998 V40 1.8 petrol.

I'm now living in Poland so it's obviously in kilometres but mine has 359,537km roughly 223,405 miles

Body & interior in good condition and seems to have been looked after, just something odd with the indicators.....

hence me being here again after many years and trying to remember how to search........

Sadly my V40 was driven to the scrap yard last year having 238k (genuine mileage) on the clock. It ran like clockwork but sadly had to let it go as a result of relocation to the North East. Biggest mistake as I could have had it transported on a trailer. These go on forever if maintained in accordance with Volvo specification. I love these cars so much that I now own a 2003 V40 Sport (110k documented mileage) which will go thro, what I estimate a 3 year restoration project. Very rare colour Terra Grey. I believe this will in time become a classic

I’m at more or less the same mileage (230k miles). Still going strong. Body is good except for some rust on LHs rear wheel well (front of). Transmission is smooth as silk. Rear brakes continue to be a head ache but thankfully I bought the caliper windback toolca long time ago and have got some great use out of this tool.

185.5k miles and counting on my 2001 1.8. No major problem so far.
