Apparently its a small chain that runs a balance shaft ?

Any ideas.

The noise your hearing is the vac. pump for the brakes. Do a search, there's plenty about on the forum. It often dissapears when you put your foot on the brake pedal.

Tried that and the sound is still there. The problem is the sound is worse at about 1800rpm to 2500rpm and is heard most when the drivers window is open.
I found a clip on youtube that sounds the same and they have put it down to the lifters.

You need to pump the brake pedal several times and then hold it for the noise to dissappear. Pressing it once hardly makes the noise go away.

This sounds very much like the vac pump.

Hi stevelee65,

Did you ever solve this ? I think I've got the same issue, I've posted on the forum but had no replies yet. It would be good to hear what solved it for you. Cheers Charlie.
