Question Electrical Wiring Problems

My wifes 1997 V40 2 litres has developed various wiring faults in the last six months. First the electric windows decided to stop working, traced to the feed wire between the fusebox and relay inside the car failing. Then the ABS warning light illuminated along with the EBD light, this traced to the main feed from the fusebox to the ABS unit failing. In both cases the wire had turned to green dust, so wires had to be replaced.
Now the horn has stopped working, I have continuity from battery through fusebox to each horn, but no continuity to horn push. I suspect that the same problem has occurred and a wire has failed.
Is this a common experience on a V40 of this age?
Does anyone know of a good auto electrician in the Staffordshire area?
Comments welcome and any help appreciated.
Thanks

the main wiring loom that passes underneath the raditor is prone to water getting in the wrap arround plastic and causing the wire to swell.
