Just wonderin'.......
Just wondering.... check of Guinness WBR still talks about some Polish effort from 2010 - any news on how our sterling effort is progressing with being recognised by them ? |

What Alan said.
Guinness denied the record attempt. They're having another go next year, same place different date. Granted the site is empty, but it has a count down on - https://www.volvo600.co.uk/live/

It was a great weekend nevertheless and the Amazon enjoyed it too. 898 miles total! A wonderfully friendly weekend. Hope I get to next year's. |

Went to the first attempt.Got there was directed to park in a "holding area" for a short while then along with others went onto airfield and parked up.basically just had time to walk to-and use-the facilities before returning to the car[at some point collecting car number to display in windscreen]eventually set off and did one lap before stopping again-others of course got more than one lap in and a greater time to look round-at no point was I informed as to what was expected of me regarding car spacing. An earlier opening time at the venue would have helped greatly I think and a more ordered flow of the cars to prevent "bottlenecks" occurring.Having said all that I think the organising team did a tremendous job especially given the number of cars that turned up.Will I go to this next attempt? Yes I will certainly do all I can to be there.

With respect, the site allowed entry much earlier than advertised. Plus, there were a number of videos on the website which clearly explained what was going to happen. Plus there was information on the sheets you needed to bring with you which also explained everything.
Not entirely sure what else could be done to inform participants of what to do - except for a local broadcast on FM for drivers to tune into. Cheers

I wasn't aware of the last attempt so i didn't go but I am going to make the next one.
i went to a recent meet by the organisers at cosforth raf museum and that was quite good to see the cars and meet a few folks, not sure if anyone on here was there or not? I convoyed down with the Volvo owners uk northwest group that met in lymm services was a good day out. there is another event at the british motor museum on the 6th oct which i'm planning on attending too. quite impressed with how active the volvo community is and how nice everyone is, shame i didn’t discover it earlier!

Ah well if you come along to the next one let me know we can meet up, i think the british motor museum will be a good venue and i've never been.
At cosforth my car didn't get a great deal of attention either, i was in the main bunch but my xc70 is pretty standard at the moment, and there was a gorgeous ocean race model that just left mine in the shadows, although to be fair i didn't take it expecting anyone to look at it and clocked a couple of guys having a walk around it which surprised me. was happy they had a guy taking photos they got a nice one of us on the convoy in...
