The shocks will be OK. A full ball joint report is requested.

'08 S60 D5 having problems on first start of the day so did the Injector Leak Back test this morning. Results inconclusive (screenie) - injector 3 might be leaking more than the others, but not by much.

Thought I would swap out the fuel filter just to see whether it might improve things, but bloody hell, that fuel filter cap is on TIGHT!!! (I wonder whether it has been changed during regular services...) Gave up as I really need a rubber strap wrench to get the cap off. On a positive note, I drained the filter through the drain screw but after a couple of 'primes' through Position II on the ignition, engine started first time.

Ho-hum, lets see what tomorrow brings.

Rear shocks fitted, and clucking now gone

front ball joints are for tomorrow, what info do you need Georgeandkira?

going to remove the struts, first then the plan is to cut off the flanges for the two bolts and use my ball joint service tool set, to remove old unit.
new ball joints are in the freezer to hopefully allow easy installation.
got a 10 Tonne strop to pull the wish bones down off the hub assembly
used this to replace the wishbones made it very easy.

I've tried the strap wrench - don't bother. This works a treat: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Laser-6238-.../dp/B0111G17WQ

Pretty sure you can find it for less, that was just the first google link.

Ball joints replaced, now no creaking

to get the wishbones down and free off the bottom ball joint, using a strop around the wishbone the other end on the opposite side sub-frame and ratchet the wishbone down, it will hold it there whilst you carry out the work needed then once the ball joint is back in place release the strop to allow the wishbone and ball joint to come together.

makes it easier than using crow bars to push the wishbone down whilst trying to get the joint apart or together

Replaced an ABS sensor at passenger side and replaced the front wheel, driver side, calliper.

No more abs fault and no more sticking calliper again I hope.

Just changed the top, front (of engine) and transmission mounts, I'll do the hydraulic ones on either side of the engine later when I've more time.
I also replaced both front wishbones. Definitely, remove the ARB drop link and also the large bracket on the brake caliper as they just get in the way. Dead easy with a strap, apart from when I pulled the inner CV out trying to use an air gun on the brake bracket bolts. That annoyed me somewhat, but with a new clip and a bucket of grease, that went back together again.

So I have a couple of wishbones, free to any discerning forumer who wishes to re-bush them in peace before changing them later. If you're in the Wiltshire area, near the MRG Volvo-soon-to-be-Ford-&-Volvo garage......

Following a missfire on cyl 3 code......causing check engine lamp to flash.....

Cleared said code then:

Treated it to 5 shiney new OE plugs & a BERU coil pack for #3.

Purring nicely again
