Default Active high beam control anyone??

Just looking at the new Volvo models on offer and am intrigued by the Active High Beam Control feature.
At first sight, it seems great but will it work I wonder?

What happens in well lit areas with masses of car around?
What happens to hapless pedestrians (etc) who will still be blinded?
What happens on dual carriageways where oncoming cars are well over to the right (but still won't appreciate being blinded)?
What happens with cars well ahead of you who can still be annoyed by a bright headlight behind them?
Will there be a manual dip switch to over-ride all?

Can't help thinking that an automatic dipping feature (as in the new Honda CRV - and other cars so far as I know) would be simpler and more effective.

Anyone else with doubts??

I just await it going wrong and being a royal mare to fix or a new light at hundreds.

Why the negativity and unbounded pessimism?

Consider how many innovations Volvo have been the first to use on their cars and that are now standard features. This may be one of those groundbreaking breakthroughs that will considered indispensable in a few years.

Well, if it works anything like the High Beam Assist I hvae on my Bmw, then I would be highly impressed!

At night, activate the feature. On dark road, high beam comes on automatically when no other cars around. When other cars or houses, people, animals etc etc etc are around, it deactivates fully automatic. Great feature that IMO should be standard on all cars today.

Btw, if you don't want it on, simply deactivate it.
