V60 MY14 D5 - Aux belt info
Just some info as I myself like to read others home mechanic DIY experiences. I’m aware the Auxbelt is on a 54k recommendation schedule. As I’ve been approaching 48k I’ve been inspecting the belt weekly. I had seen a clear deterioration of the edges with evidence of fluff. Also as the engine stops in different places, Ive noticed small edge cracks and missing belt ridges.
Considering how much stress it’s under the belt has done extremely well (Volvo part). Replacing was extremely easy. All the pulleys ran freely, however the alternator shaft wasn’t running true. I assume years of stress or perhaps previous intervention with a pry bar. The interesting part is worn pulleys. We change worn pulleys at work, however not that easy on cars. Even more reason to change frequently considering how cheap a belt is.

The alternator pulley is quite straight forward to change, but you need to remove the alternator from the car and you need a special tool (which is cheap to buy and commonly available) to actually remove and replace the pulley.
I did the pulley on my XC60 D5 a few weeks ago. My pulley had failed (the overrun mechanism) and made a horrible rattle at idle, especially when cold. But if yours is not running true I suggest replacing it. The OE part is INA brand and these are available from lots of sellers on ebay. Check your OE part no. before buying. It is printed on the front of the pulley. There is a good video on you tube. It's a different car and I had to do things a little different, but essentially is the same process. (I also removed the oil filter and a coolant hose on my D5 which gave a bit more room in removing the alternator). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-RByaWsms4

Those part numbers don't match? (Old vs new).

Only the F number up to the point is important. So F-553392.
All suffixes are compatible. From INA catalogue https://aftermarket.schaeffler.com/e...100/v-TA-10292 The catalogue also lists all of the Volvo part numbers that this replaces (mine was 30667682 according to VIDA).

Okay, thanks for confirming.
Is it possible to replace this pulley with the alternator on the car?

@Kev0607
Is it possible to replace this pulley with the alternator on the car? On my car no chance. You would need to check yours. The issue is clearance between the pulley and the inner wing/chassis. On mine there is only about 40mm from memory. You need space to get the tool inside the pulley, and then use it. You can see the tool in the pictures above ( a short version first pic and longer version second pic). The long piece is a M10 spline bit that goes through the pulley and in to the end of the alternator shaft. Then the 33pt (??) bit fits the pulley and is turned with a ring spanner. The pulley is very tight. Think 600mm breaker bar and extra long ring spanner tight!

I managed without removing the alternator from the car tho it had to be unbolted from its mountings and then I just rotated it to access the pulley. An impact gun is your friend here, just buzz the old pulley off, tighten the new one in with it and check with the torque wrench.
