Well, I'm really struggling to find what I want. Not many 163bhp around on the facelift, manuals like hens teeth, a few more autos. I want something in good condition and I'm prepared to pay the slight premium for this.

I have found a few that fit the bill but when I enquire things change, history nowhere near as good as they initially say, missed services for over 2 years, no cambelt change etc. i fully appreciate that I may have to service straight away but not if I'm paying over the odds.

Maybe I'm just not destined to get a V70! lol. maybe I'm setting my sights too high. I don't want to compromise and then be dissapointed. OK, I accept I may have to have auto, I may need to go slightly higher mileage. They're seem to be an abundance of 185bhp's around, I could justify a slight increase in bhp but it appears the difference would be significant. I wanted an earlier car to avoid DPF issues as I do short regular runs.

Have you had a look at this one. Doesn't look too bad on face value.

I did see that one. This will sound very picky but at that price I'd want something I was really happy with and I detest that colour and wheel combination! I know, picky! Colour doesn't matter to a degree but I couldn't live with that.

Why not widen your field of search and consider a petrol, much faster warm-ups in winter and oh so quiet...

Has to be diesel, that's the one thing I won't compromise on tbh. I get diesel at a really good price through work and fuel costs are generally really high up here. For what I'd get mpg wise I'd sooner start looking at other makes of car....really don't want to do that :-(

I've just had another look at that blue v70, although it's a 163, its also a euro 4. So it will have a DPF. Failed on several points.

Lol :-) I must be coming over as very fussy. When I started to look I intended getting an older car for £2-£3k, now I've established what I need I've had to up by budget considerably (Don't tell the missus) and I really no longer want to compromise....too much ;-)

Out of interest I had a quick look at petrol V70's, they don't appear to be much cheaper!

This car looks nice for the money but what mpg? :-(

I've got the 180bhp 2.0T engine in my S80 with an autobox.

Does about 22mpg in heavy traffic around town, around 32-34mpg on the motorway, and anything in between depending on circumstances.

£70 sees anything from 320 to 400 miles.

Not a bad little engine, it's certainly not as slow as some make out. Make sure the gearbox doesn't 'flare'. Mine did, but a fluid change sorted it (now on 141k).

Doesn't look bad and it's pretty well equipped with heated seats and a good radio. Right rear tire is different.
