Oil filter certainly needs that specialist plastic cap to do the job.

Fuel filter, Strangely enough, The clips need to push in towards the filter and then you should be able to pull the clip off.

In regards to the clasp get your junior hacksaw out. Just use a cable tie in future... That fuel clip is a rusty PITA!

My fuel filter was a pita too! If you look at the connector there should be 2 grey squares you press - those are the tabs that are trouble lol - feels like you cant press them in enough and then you break them, mine needed an "assist" when it went back. (try pushing it on when you press them)
If you used a injector cleaner it will have loosened all the crap that's inside the filter itself and swapping it will give you a benefit, I know mine did.

Cheers guys, in all seriousness though, who'd design something that's going to live underneath a car for years on end and use a bloody jubilee clip of all things to attach it, I've had non rusty ones be a total pain to undo, literally any method of fixing would be better than that lol

I think they thought that that plastic cover might protect it better than it did lol. Although my old petrol that had over 200K on it, CLEARLY the fuel filter was never replaced as it was as rusty as the clip on it lol there wasn't a drop of silver in sight!
