Certainly on this Volvo forum, perhaps. But I'm pretty sure that the wider community welcomes cleaner air in urban areas, such as Bristol. That the UK continues to miss improvement targets while people are dying from the effects of air pollution is indefensible.

Pray how is CO2 emitions polluting?

CO2 is plant food and 0.04% of the atmosphere. If it drops below 150 ppm plants which produce our oxigen cannot survive, we are currently on 180 ppm.

In that one statement you have lost me, because I do not belive CO2 to be harmful, certainly not at present levels.

Really?

The problem isn't that CO2 is toxic, it's that it's a greenhouse gas. Human activity has and is significantly ramping up the levels present in the atmosphere and raising global temperatures. It's a definite problem with a scientific consensus...

I would be delighted if Dundee banned all fossil fuel vehicles from it's centre, including my old diesel. I take my bike into town and it STINKS.

None so blind as those that will not see.
CO2 doesnot cause warming, it is a byproduct of warming and lags tempreture rise by 600 to 800 years.
Instead of beliving the mainstream media do a bit of your own research. The long term trend in CO2 has been downwards for many thousands of years and we are currently at a dangerously low level.
The industrial revolution saved our lives. Untill we started useing fossil fuels we were in a paroulus state as CO2 levels had dropped to dangerously low levels due to reduced volcanic action.
At the time of the dinosaurs CO2 was many times higher than present , during the roman occupation grapes were grown in Northern Britain.

I a technophobe was able to find all this information on the net, not from loony sites but scientific lectures.

I suggest you look at ALL the evidence before making your mind up. I did and my opinion is at variance with the official message if only because the evidence has been doctored to support the message.

Paul.
