Hi Owen - from the Vadis disk looks like just two pieces for the front - luckily doesn't go over the tunnel. By removing the fairly obvious trim bits looks like it should come out.
If you want to PM me an e-mail address I'll try and copy a diagram for you to look at.

cheers
Ian.

Single piece on each side in the front.

Driver's side can be removed without competely removing the front seat, but it's quite awkward.

Move the seat to the rearmost position to make more room.
Remove all the obvious plastic trim covers as described, remove the bolts for the metal plate cover under the drivers seat,
which clamps the carpet down, remove the front seat rail covers and then their bolts.
Either slacken the rear seat rail bolts and allow the seat to tilt back,
or remove the rear bolts completely and then move the seat rearwards, watching you don't strain any cables etc.
Be VERY careful not to disturb any of the wiring / connectors etc, for the seat airbags etc.
The carpet will then come out, but because there is such thick dense foam material applied,
it is not at all flexible, and has to be wrestled with to get it out !

I need to take the seats out as I think I may have to remove the middle row carpet as well but that will show it's self as I go.

Disconnect the battery and leave alone for 15 mins if you take the seat out as it has an air bag fitted. You will also need to follow the battery re-connect procedure.

As the battery is currently sat on the bench in the garage I don't think that the disconnection is a problem
The reconnection procedure that I have used is to put the side lights on to give a small drain on the battery to stop spikes. is this what you ment?

I have seen a proceedure from Volvo that states the key must be in position 2 before connecting. Not sure if this applies to all model years.
