Black Egg Crate Grille

Has anyone got a black egg crate grille lying around somewhere?? Just thought I'd ask before buying a new one.

I doubt you'll find one on here just lying about, they tend to sell within minutes if one ever comes up. Best place is usually eBay to spot one, or if you have the money, buy it new from PartsForVolvosOnline or contact Rufe and see if he can price one up for you.

No, it's larger...much larger in the depth.

......i believe they are about £150......apart from hard to get i decided to do this to mine........

.......i thought it may be safer than those large square holes in the eggcrate grille.........thinking of stones through the radiator....... also what made me think this way is the marks you get on the front of the car when travelling quickly!!!!!............

Looks great painted yourself whats it done with matt or gloos spray finish,does the badge come off?

......glad you like it!..........the spray paint was Acrylic Gloss Black as it matches the Forever Black bumpers ......i opened the bonnet at half height so it was just level with my chest and masked up the entire grill rather than take it off and chance any bolt breakages....i also left on the badge and slant strips...it was really easy with a can of guiness in the other hand......layed sheets across the bonnet and screen to avoid the overspray.......you will be surprised how good it looks when you see your own done......

i keep seeing the later models s40s with the egg crates and really do like them but being skint cant justify buying one, so in the meantime i had a bit of a tinker with the original

not perfect as you can see where the badge was but from a bit further away i think it looks ok?
