I soldered two wire two the light bulb itself and to suitable points on the PCB. I cannot exactly remember where and the single picture I could find of my instrument panel only shows one. It works fine though. Be careful when copying this that the light bulb now has a polarity and should be plugged in the right way.
No idea why the picture keeps coming up upside down, but I gave up rotating it.

If you review this thread it contains my own attempt at working out the instrument cluster pinout along with some definitive Green Book information from Rversteeg.

This might help you trace and repair the defective joint on the PCB.

It did enable me to fix a similar illumination fault to yours; however, my speedometer repair was short-lived so I ended up fitting my original speedometer in a good secondhand cluster. A fix that is still working well.

Same issue, dodgy connection of the bulb on the PCB with intermittent working. I could not get it working reliably again, so I resorted to this more drastic method. Just follow the printed copper strip on the PCB to a suitable point to solder a wire to.
