Water trickle sound behind glovebox
Hello
I have a 2015 xc70 T5 with low mileage. I am hearing a very light water trickle sound behind the glovebox. Doesn't seem to matter if the AC is on or off. I've read it could be air in the system. Is there a preffed way to "burp" this system. AND, even more important how would air get in the system on such a low mileage car? I doubt the coolant has ever been changed. I have noticed on occasion a 2 to 3 second smell of antifreeze when I start the car too. Thanks for any info and advice |

Water sound
Hi, we have 2016 XC70 D5 and we heard a sound when we flicked the washer stalk for the rear windscreen washer. We could also smell a fluid. It turned out to be the rear washer fluid pipe connection that sits behind the passengers side front pillar. There is a push connector which had become detached. Very easy fix. A tell tale sign is a little puddle of washer fluid in the passenger footwell. You just need to remove the pillar cover and reattach the pipe. Hope that helps. Nick.

Thanks for your thoughts.
Upon monitoring it a little closer I think it is AC related. I noticed today I was wrong, it does go away if I turn the AC off. |

That sounds like a similar issue I have with my 2012 V70. An odd noise from the dash when the AC is on, that goes away when you switch the AC off.
There's quite a bit on here and elsewhere on the web about it. Something to do with a bit of pipework in the AC system. From what I've learned you can either chase it down and get the pipework replaced, or just live with it! Cheers Jack |

Thanks for your response Jack.
Yeah it's really weird. I can't really describe the noise, almost like a whisper that you can tell is water. I've tried looking all over forums but don't know what to search for and haven't found any info. |

Thanks Jack.
That hadn't actually occurred to me. For some reason I was hyper focused on coolant and forgot the aircon runs on a different refrigerant. I will get that checked. If it was low, would that indicate a leak? I know it's not freon, but whatever they use these days, can it evaporate in the system? |
