Fuel consumption
Hello, I've got a question for all you 960 3.0 lit owners that I hope will stir up some response.
Can anybody tell me what would be a reasonable fuel consumption for a 3.0 lit 960 1995 model year. I know this can be a difficult thing to give a good answer to. Recently I have done a couple of trips of about 250/300 miles from East Yorkshire down to Hampshire which a practically all motorway, at not much more than 80/85 mph. From full tank to full tank I'm getting about 22 mpg (my 760 Turbo used to give about 27 mpg driven in the same way). Does this figure seem OK or do you think the tune may be a bit off. Hope to hear from you all soon. Cheers Trevor |

RE: Fuel consumption
hi trevor, no doubt you will get some inhabitants of the planet zog claiming 30 plus figures and more, but the truth is the low twenties are about average, my old 960 did about 25 if i nursed it but at the end of the day its a brick with a 3 litre motor! just make sure plugs filters etc are replaced as reqd

RE: Fuel consumption
Around town count yourself lucky if you get 18 mpg. This is better than the old 164 (also 3 Litre motor) with three-speed auto. If you have the (rare) version with the M90 manual box then closer to 21 mpg can be expected, althouigh that comes usually on the 2.5 Litre engined version. All the best, Peter. |
