Default 2003 Volvo S40 running Bio Diesel

Hi everyone i'm new to volvos but loving my S40 so far

I usually drive a ford galaxy but decided to down grade and i have ended up with a 2003 volvo S40 1.9 diesel

Has anyone ran their S40 on Bio Diesel, I'm looking for information to see if its a good idea or not, i dont want to kill my wee volvo lol.

I used to run my galaxy on the bio diesel and it rant on 100% bio diesel for about 1.5 years with no issues.

I have tried looking on google to get more information like i did with the galaxy but i wasn't able to find anything.

any information will be greatly appreciated

thanks

I drive a Volvo 2.4 Diesel 2009 and have driven 8k miles on 100% Biodiesel in the last 6 months.

I have had no issues at all and I have not had any blocked filters.
As yours is an older model it probably doesn't have the DPF either.

The wife drives a ford galaxy, 60k Miles and counting on Bio

just as a mater of interest how much are you paying per litre for your bio?

I make my own and it costs me 15p per litre to make + the cost of the oil.

Most of the oil I get for free and some I pay 20p per litre.

So on average it costs me 20p per litre

Unfortunately biodiesel gets slated by those who know little and repeat what the bloke down the pub says in that bio-diesel will wreck yer car mate!

Poorly made Bio may contribute to an early demise in some circumstances, but not usually before the user has saved themselves a huge chunk of change, sometime the price of a new car.

Well made bio (i've been brewing for 10 years, so I'd like to think I know what I'm doing) is actually good for a diesel, in that it has lubricating properties that diesel doesn't have.

So in summary, If you make or have access to well made bio you should be ok, and if your source is untested or you are new at making bio you may have some issues.
