I sit corrected then - it's the overall height of the disc from the inner friction face of the disc to the wheel-mounting face.

Thanks for the info Pete!

Also i'm fairly sure there is a 262mm diameter variant, 19mm thick - i had those on my last 740GLE, whether it was carried on to the 940 i'm not entirely sure.
pretty sure they were 262mm x 19mm when I renewed them on the front of my dad's 1990 740. I did measure them on the car first as there seemed to be a variety of combinations.

Even more fun making sure I got the correct front brake calliper.

Talk about making things complicated.

I had an idle thought yesterday, but reckoned this thread was the place for it...

Do the uprights/struts differ between different brake models? Or is it just the disc and caliper that is different?

I've a set of struts from the 760 (ABS) I broke, but there's no point in my keeping them if they won't fit my 740 (non-ABS).

Have you still got the bodyshell or at least photos of the engine bay Jim?

I think the main difference, if any, will be at the top end as the turrets on my 760 are different to those on my previous 740s. However, that doesn't necessarily mean the struts won't fit, just the camber might be different. I can't remember all the different configurations but a bit of research online should give you the answers.

Fairly sure the bottom end is the same so just the hubs/discs/calipers are different - i think!

Just my idle contribution!
