Question S / V40 Diesel sports exhaust upgrade or not

Hi forum people,

Any of you ever fitted any type of sports exhaust on the Volvo diesel engine ? is it possible, I read that free flow exhausts suffer from carbon jam when used with diesels ?

is fitting a back box only a better alternative - if its possible ?

TIA

I have recently fitted a de-cat pipe and removed the centre silencer from my s60 d5 and it made alot of difference to power and engine seemed rev easier. Josh

As a newbie to Volvo with the recent purchase of an S60 D5 SE, i'm gradually finding my feet as to what you can and can't do with them - de-catting sounds like an interesting start.

Where did you buy your de-cat pipe from ?

Did fitting it cause you any issues with error codes being thrown up ?

I had my pipe hand made by pipe works in liverpool it cost £160 and an extra £40 for centre silancer no lights came up on my dash board only thing that different is abit of black smoke when you give it some from the lights i also have a re-map which will prob make it worse.
The only thing i might have a prob with is when i come to an mot which is next week.
