Horn Fault
A couple of months ago the horn part failed on my '05 XC90. I lost the low note, only had the high note, and this was somewhat wimpy. So instead of chasing around for a Volvo part at main stealer, I went to local motor factors and got a set of Ring twin horns for about £25.
Fitted really easily, sounded good, happy days. Now this week I used the horn as some t**t in the opposite direction decided not to wait patiently in line for the roundabout and came onto my side of the road to overtake stationary vehicles...... The horn sounded great for about 2 seconds, then faltered as I released (and crapped myself at the near miss...!). Tried it again today when out, and it has definitely lost the low note again, and I'm left with the wimpy high note. Had a quick check of the connections, all look okay. Seems very odd that the same fault has occurred to a set of non Volvo horns. How is this possible? Unlucky co-incidence? If I need to warn of my presence I'd prefer the horns to be louder than me sticking my head out of the window and shouting in case of a car coming round the next blind bend... Anyone any ideas? |
