It look like the dealer has made a mistake and inadvertently misled you.

Intellisafe Assist is available as an upgrade for MY20 XC60's but not for MY21 cars - I suppose it could be said to have been 'removed' from the Volvo Accessories range for MY21 cars.

Upgrades are performed by connecting the car to Volvo's servers which will check what upgrades are available for that Model Year of the car. Intellisafe Assist isn't available for MY21 XC60's so the system will refuse to install it, whether at a dealer or an independent.

The Vipserwis in Poland installation looks to be a hack. It may well work, but it won't be supported by Volvo should anything go wrong and could perhaps invalidate your warranty.

Rather than selling your (otherwise superb) car I would go back to the dealer and ask them to source you another car with ACC as they have, probably inadvertently, misled you.

He says he purchased the car privately but spoke to the local Volvo dealer before he made the purchase to ensure that they could apply the upgrade to the car he was buying privately.
Asking the dealer to source a car with ACC, is the same as having to sell the car, and buying a new one. Buying off a dealer would also be more expensive than a private purchase as well. Unless they take full responsibility for having gave wrong advice when he was purchasing a car off someone else and put substantial funds towards making up the cost difference, I can't really see that happening.

In the current market though, if you've bought privately, you can probably sell it, and not lose much, and be back where you were before the purchase.

Oops...you're right. My bad for not missing the one pivotal word.

@MrNickW, my apologies and I agree with Rocinante.

There must be someone in the UK who can do this…
Yes, there are people in the UK that can do this...

I’m searching all over at the moment, but despite some saying it can be done, so far no one has said they’ll actually do it. Can you share details of your contact? PM me if you prefer? I’m determined to try for a bit before reselling. It’s otherwise my perfect car. I’ll keep you all updated. Nick

I am the contact - I can make changes to any car (SPA/CMA/Polestar) so long as you have the CEM PIN (or at least your .log from VIDA - I can generate a working PIN from this.. ).

Have spent much of this year learning this stuff after not wanting to spend a whole load of money with Volvo or one of the 3rd parties that offer 'commercial' services. Probably more hours than was worth it financially, but knowledge is power and all.

Sorry x119…. I’m too new to the forum so cannot private message you!

Thanks for replying in the thread. I actually have a Vida lead on order at the moment from the states following some useful advice on SweedSpeed. It’s going to take a couple of weeks for the lead to get to me. Whereabouts are you based? Do you think you would be able to help me out if I came to you? What would you charge?

I’m running out of options, so thinking about doing it myself at the moment, learning along the way. This could of course be handy knowledge when it comes to uninstalling / reinstalling around services or other software upgrades. There’s someone on SwedeSpeed that’s been offering me some really useful advice for the DIY option.

I’m on track to have my own USA Vida account soon where I can extract the necessary information and then use the same lead to perform the upgrade using another service. Or perhaps… You could help me remotely? It’s my understanding the software and hardware is already in the car, it just needs unlocking. I’m determined to find a way to do this!

Pilot Assist just seems dangerous to me - your mind starts to wander as it steers itself and you start drifting off to sleep. Maybe useful just for when you are grabbing something out of the glove box etc but I have vowed not to use it for more than a few seconds at a time as I can see it will end badly...
pilot assist is a safety system it is not supposed to be used as a driving aid . You drive properly and it never activates , it comes into its own when you fall asleep at the wheel , or your attention is distracted ..YES it is very easy to do ...
