XC90 Auto 3rd Pedal

I have just bought an XC90 and its the first AWD and Auto that I have owned . Can anybody tell me what the third pedal is for on the side of the transmission tunnel?

1 will be the handbrake depending on your year
or theres a foot rest at the bottom

Just out of interest , if you press it then the release handle is just under the dial for the front lights.

Do the later models,2012 have the same brake?

yes they have , there wont be any more modifications now as its very near the end of it's life span .
