Volvo launches free puncture and windscreen repairs

Volvo owners in the UK can now get punctures and windscreen chips on their car repaired for free, regardless of their vehicle’s age.

The “industry-first free repair service” is aimed at getting Volvo owners back on the road safely as soon as possible after their car has sustained tyre or windscreen damage, the Swedish brand says.

If it’s not possible to carry out a simple repair for free, the technician will advise the customer what to do, arranging for a new tyre or windscreen to be fitted where necessary.

I had a survey a few months ago asking about this sort of thing. Great idea as i've had 3 punctures in the past year since i've had the car!

I saw this earlier today. Not sure how they're going to be able to do this at the dealers, it's difficult enough getting an appointment for a service. I can just imagine them booking a puncture in for 2 weeks time to 'have a look' and then another 2 days for repair.

As Volvo are promising repairs 'while you wait', dealers will reserve a small amount of capacity each day to allow for the possibility of these repairs.

Great in theory but they have full time to book in services, offer hire cars etc and in my experience that’s a difficult challenge at the best of times 🤣

Agreed. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Im quite cynical when it comes to volvo sadly these days. Are the repairs being offered as a genuine useful service to customers, or is it like Kwik Fit offering a free winter health check and expecting to turn it into money….

Time will tell.

It looks like it will be a genuine useful service to customers, PROVIDED that your repair meets the criteria in the Terms and Conditions.

However, Volvo are a business and will be expecting to make money on the back of this service via upselling.

There's Motorway Tyres at the end of my road, or a 20 mile round trip to the dealer who "may" repair a puncture. Last time I had a tyre repaired at Motorway they didn't charge so I'll stick with them.

Yes, well I'm cynical about the motor trade in general as repairs make money!

I wonder if it will be like Kwik Fit when I take my tyre for a puncture repair and it's ALWAYS unrepairable, well, unrepairable under their standards, meaning if the puncture is not dead centre on a nearly new tyre, then 'sorry, you need a new tyre sir'...

I've ordered my new XC60 with a spare wheel, which will give me the comfort of being able to get to my local trusted indie tyre fitter who only charges a tenner for a repair, and I know won't try to upsell a tyre if I don't need one.
