I *was* looking at getting a Nissan Elgrand and converting it to LPG to make the 20-22mpg bearable but there aren't that many LPG stations left around me either, with a few having been removed in the past couple of years.

I have heard that the introduction of LEZ's in many UK cities has started a bit of an increase in car conversions though. Minicabs that have until now run around in diesel high MPG cars are now choosing LPG/petrol cars to get as near to the equivalent MPG, especially in the bigger people carrier sized vehicles.

Might be interesting to see if LPG gets a little resurgence before dying out?

My local one, about a mile away at 89.9, and Wakefield Morrisons about 6 mile away at 82.7 have pumps out of order, so looks like I will have to travel over to Bradford about 6 mile and hope for the best.

Best to buy an EV and keep your proper Volvo as a long distance/weekend car.

You wont have much of an emotional attachment to the EV in the same way you don't have an emotional attachment to a cordless drill, but you WILL be saving huge amounts of money in fuel.

I'm not a fan of EVs but in this climate it's hard to argue against owning EV and internal combustion for longer journeys.

Exactly my logic for buying a V60 diesel hybrid. It has its flaws, but everything in life is a compromise that you chose.

As a 'car nut' It is interesting that the only thing I don't really like is the thrashy noise that comes after 20 odd miles of EV when the cold diesel engine cuts in...

Why do you think you won't form an emotional attachment to an EV?

The reason for the shortage of Autogas is Flogas have pulled out and decided to focus on domestic bulk deliveries. That is what I have been told be someone who works for them and it is all the flogas supplied places that no longer have LPG

I am surprised it has kept going so long. I would say 80% of the old motor vehicle LPG outlets have stopped selling LPG for the last 20 years . Time to go electric I guess !
The conversion peak was between 2005-2010 but has been in rapid decline since then. This year has seen a huge interest in new conversions.

The big problem now is finding suitable petrol cars to convert as we were sold diesels for so long on lies with only recently governments remembering how dirty they are

My local one has recently had a delivery from Flo-gas, it all depends on delivery vehicle drivers being available for your area. Also don't always trust that LPG finder site as it still says my local ones don't have any even after I have been on the site to update them !

There was a report in either Classic Car Weekly or Classic Car Mart this week that one of the big forecourt owners in the UK, MFG, is removing all of it's LPG pumps to allow for the installation of EV charging points.

Apparently this is because LPG is the least-profitable product to sell currently, and it will affect 900 forecourts nationwide. Link below:
