Default V90 remote unlock lock broken

Morning team. Remote locking and unlocking is playing up on 2017 V90. Battery seems fine in fob as it recognises the key fine to start driving, just the locking and unlocking is having none of it. Any thoughts?

To work out whether it's the key or the car itself have you tried your 2nd key? If the 2nd key works OK I'd be tempted to put a new battery in the key fob. I know you said the car is recognising the key but they tend to behave erratically when battery power is low.

No, and this is the worrying part. Spare key had brand new battery at same time as this one about a year ago and hasn’t been used - when main key failed spare didn’t work either which made me think it wasn’t battery…

First signs of fob battery running low is unlocking the car may take several goes, car will always start. Changing the battery will resume normal service.

As I said, it was both of them failing which was odd. Does sitting in the spare not doing anything still drain the battery?!

Default battery fob

Read somewhere that the spare keys battery will drain even without use as it's still searching for the car

As above, I only use my sports key and never use my normal fobs but the batteries still run down.

I had similar issue before. I thought that something wrong with car antennas. Problem was with unlocking or locking the car from fob. Battery been replaced for some cheap one and issue was still there. Then I have changed batteries in fobs for Duracell longlife and issue disappear straight away. No more issue since then
