200 Series General Forum for the Volvo 240 and 260 cars

  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

My advice would be to do away with the cambelt completely and drive the camshafts using the windscreen wiper motor

It would need to be on the fast wipe setting unless going uphill against gravity when the intermittent setting would need to be used.

Otherwise I like your thinking here, at last we seem to be getting somewhere.

Would this work on planets with less gravitational pull that the earth?

very astute there sir, however i was using a splash of "poetic licence" but as you very rightly say if one was marrooned on a distant planet(or even a not so distant planet) volvo cambelts would not be the highest priority on ones "to do" list

Ah, valve contact - this is what we want to know about - not drinking brake fluid down the drain and wiper motor lash ups on pluto.
