Default Driver's side mirror going opposite direction to switch

I just replaced the internal motor assembly of my driver's side door mirror, on my 1999 V70 T5. I now find that when I push the button left the mirror moves right and vice versa, when I push right the mirror moves left. It goes correctly up and down though. I've double checked with the passenger side, it's behaving differently to the passenger side, which was fine, and has it's original motor, so I know I'm not being thick.

I compared the old broken motor assembly with the new one that I installed, and they both have a connector with 3 clearly labeled terminals, labeled (helpfully) 1, 2 and 3, and they are in the exact same position in the new motor assembly as they were in the old one.

So, I'm hoping that this should be a dead easy fix, and I've lifted the back off the motor assembly to find where the connectors are making contact to the motors.

Can anyone suggest what I can do to fix it please?

Sorry for the long post, I like to explain things in as much detail as I can, hopefully I've made this clear here.

Cheers!

How strange. If you've not disturbed the switch then the problem has to be with the replacement motor. Did you get it from a breaker? Unless you fancy pulling the new motor apart then I guess your two options are either to return it to the supplier, or just to accept that your car now has an interesting little foible!

Cheers

Not sure if the plug only fits the socket one way. But, is it possible that the plug has been fitted 'upside down' and thus swapping the outer wires over and making the motor work in an opposite direction to that designed.
